About Us

The Amherst Skating Club is a United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) club with amateur skaters, both children and adults, and non-skating adult members including parents, coaches and judges. Our parent organization, the USFSA, governs amateur figure skating programs in the United States. Our home ice is the Northtown Ice Center; a four-rink facility located on Amherst Manor Drive in Amherst, New York, a suburb of Buffalo. We are a 501(c) (3) Not For Profit Corporation dedicated to promoting excellence in all aspects of figure skating.

Our club has been in operation since 1964. We hosted the USFS 1974, 1998, 2001, 2005, 2008, 2012 and 2017 North Atlantic Regional Championships, as well as the USFS 2000 Junior National Championships. We host the Amherst Skating Club Invitational Competition annually in the fall.

We have the most comprehensive year-round program in the area and offer programs in freestyle, dance, moves in the field, power skating, choreography and USFSA tests. The ASC offers summer, fall/winter and spring ice sessions. Club ice sessions are sold through ice purchase contracts to our members.  USFSA non-club members may guest skate with some restrictions for a walk-on fee. We offer a Learn to Skate USA Basic Skills program to members of the Western New York community, providing group instruction to hundreds of enrollees annually. We hold classes in basic skating skills, figure skating, hockey skating skills, pre-school and teen/adult classes.

Our experienced and qualified coaches are USFSA and Professional Skaters Association (PSA) members. They offer private instruction to ASC members and instruct group lessons through our Learn to Skate program. The ASC is governed by an elected nine member volunteer Board of Directors. We employ an office manager and have a team of dedicated professionals working together to offer all skaters an optimal skating experiences.  Our Junior Board consists of our young people along with an adult advisor. This group actively participates in ASC functions and directs their own events.
